Attention Flying Drone T-Shirt (US FAA Edition)

When I’m flying, my eyes need to stay on the aircraft and the screen. That’s usually when someone walks up and asks if I’m allowed to do this, how high it goes, or whether I’m filming them. This is the US FAA edition of our Attention Flying Drone tee, made for pilots flying under Part 107 or recreationally. The back reads Attention — Flying Drone, FAA Certified & Flying Below 400ft, so most of those questions are answered before anyone asks them.

The shirt isn’t a legal requirement, and it doesn’t replace your certificate or your own judgement. It keeps the conversation short and polite so you can stay focused on the flight. For more on handling curious onlookers, see my notes on dealing with bystanders while flying a drone.

Fabric and construction

• Back print: Attention — Flying Drone, FAA Certified & Flying Below 400ft
• 100% cotton (Sport Grey is 90% cotton, 10% polyester)
• Fabric weight: 5.0–5.3 oz/yd² (170–180 g/m²)
• Open-end yarn, tubular fabric
• Taped neck and shoulders
• Double seam at sleeves and bottom hem
• Colors: Navy, Orange, Sport Grey, Black
• Sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL

Choosing a size

Sizes run from S to 5XL. Pick the size you normally wear in a classic cotton tee. If you plan to wear it over a long-sleeve layer on cold mornings, go one size up.

Does the FAA require me to wear this?

No. It’s an informational shirt for bystanders, not a uniform or a legal requirement for Part 107 or recreational flying.
