UAS Pilot Patch

I put patches on most of the gear I take to a job: the flight jacket, the backpack, the hard case the drone travels in. This one uses the word the regulations use. EASA and FAA rules call a drone and its controls a UAS (unmanned aircraft system), so the patch works as a plain job title, not a slogan. It is not a certificate or an official insignia. It just marks your kit as a pilot’s kit.

The patch is embroidered on twill, and a merrowed edge keeps it from fraying when it goes in and out of a field bag. You can iron it on, sew it on or pin it, depending on how permanent you want it.

Where it fits

At 3″ (7.6 cm), the patch is small enough for a jacket chest, a hat, a harness strap or the lid of a drone case. It is still big enough to be seen. Do I need a UAS pilot patch to fly?
